Here’s our suggestion for the perfect two-night stay at Battlefield Bed and Breakfast Inn in Gettysburg, PA
Day 1 of the perfect Gettysburg vacation:
3:00 PM - You arrive at Battlefield Bed and Breakfast Inn and are immediately greeted by a friendly and helpful evening host who offers you fresh made-from-scratch cookies.
4:00 PM - You take a two to three minute drive down the road and start to explore all of the conveniently close historic locations on the Battlefield.
Consider Devil’s Den or possibly Big Round Top (reopening in 2024) if you and your party are in the mood for a short hike. The possibilities are endless, and you couldn't be any closer to the most popular Gettysburg Battlefield monuments at Battlefield Bed & Breakfast Inn.
6:00 PM - You depart the Inn for dinner at the Dobbin House, located five minutes away on Emmitsburg Rd. / Steinwehr Ave.
7:15 PM - You take advantage of your current location and explore the many fine shops located along Steinwehr Ave and Baltimore Street. Maybe you step inside Reid's Cider House for a refreshing glass of local Adam's County hard cider. Or perhaps you have saved enough room for a big delicious waffle cone at Mr. G's Ice Cream shop. The square of Gettysburg also has many fine pubs and stores to explore during your stay.
8:00 PM - You come back to the inn for Ghost Stories with Lance Windish (by request - please let us know you want to do this) or take a ghost walking tour with a local Ghost Tour company such as Ghostly Images of Gettysburg. The Haunted Orphanage tour is highly recommended.
9:30 PM - You arrive back at the Inn with enough time to take advantage of our comfortable common rooms and 24-hour coffee and tea bar. Perhaps you sit on our spacious deck and ponder the great battle that was waged all around our property. Or maybe you have an urge to explore the supernatural and decide to investigate our own 30-acre property yourself. Every room is equipped with a flashlight for late night walks and paranormal investigations.
Day 2 of the perfect Gettysburg vacation:
BREAKFAST AND HISTORY PROGRAM
Our group breakfast is at 8 AM and our in-house history program is at 9 AM. If you wish to skip the history program, we offer breakfast between 7:30 and 9:30 am.
11:00 AM - You embark on a two-hour guided tour of the Gettysburg Battlefield with a Licensed Battlefield Guide in your own car. This requires advance reservations. Please let us know if you would like assistance setting up your tour.
1:00 PM - You visit the National Military Park Visitor's Center. You purchase tickets for the Museum as well as the Gettysburg Cyclorama presentation.
3:00 PM - You visit the Eisenhower Historic Site and tour Dwight D. Eisenhower's Gettysburg home, just a mile from the inn.
4:30 PM - You head into town to sample the fine wines available at , Reid Winery, and Adams County Winery. These tasting rooms are all located within a reasonable walking distance of Lincoln Square.
6:00 PM - You dine at one of Gettysburg's many excellent restaurants. Recommended restaurants include The Mansion House 1757, Food 101, Appalachian Brewing Company, The Garryowen Irish Pub, The Blue and Gray Grill, The Inn at Herr Ridge, One Lincoln. You can also get pizza, salads, and subs delivered right to our doorstep by calling Tommy's Pizza.
7:15 PM - You wind down after a long day at Battlefield Bed and Breakfast Inn. Relax in our common rooms or outside on our spacious deck. Consider taking a stroll on our walking trails that wind through 30 acres of beautiful private property on the Gettysburg Battlefield. In warmer months you can walk to Devil's Den and climb on the rocks until the park closes at dusk. Many of the most exciting and highly visited areas of the Battlefield are within a short walk of our front door. Visitors with dogs are strongly encouraged to take advantage of our prime location and pet friendly lodging.
8:00 PM - Roast marshmallows as you enjoy Ghost Stories Around the Bonfire with Lance Windish, our resident storyteller. Hear a fun combination of silly and spooky stories about the local area and the inn itself that will make your spine tingle. We also have a family-friendly collection of stories, aimed at younger audiences and those that want to focus on positive experiences with helping spirits. Lance performs by request so he will need some advance notice, please.
Day 3 of the perfect Gettysburg vacation:
7:30-10 AM - Breakfast is served
9:00 AM - Meet today’s historian. Each day of your stay will be a different program.
11:00 AM - You make your final departure from Battlefield Bed and Breakfast Inn.
