Recipe: Barbara's Favorite Snickerdoodles

Enjoy this guest favorite at home!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar

  • 1 tsp. baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • 2 sticks butter, softened

  • 1 1/4 cup sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • Cinnamon sugar (1/4 cup sugar and 1 Tbsp cinnamon and 1/8 tsp nutmeg)


Instructions

  • Pre-heat oven to 375 F.

  • Wisk together dry ingredients.


  • In separate bowl or electric mixer, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy (up to 5 minutes).

  • Beat in eggs one at a time.

  • Mix in dry ingredients until just blended.

  • Chill dough for about an hour. Note: we tend to skip this step.

  • Roll dough into 1 1/2 inch balls.

  • Roll balls in cinnamon sugar and space on baking sheet about 3 inches apart.

  • Bake for about 12-15 minutes, until edges are lightly browned.

  • Cool on rack.
